Shopping centre brawl erupts at Broadmeadows Central in Melbourne

A group of up to six people have been involved in a brawl over a "thrown drink" at a shopping centre in a COVID-19 hotspot in Melbourne's north.

Police are investigating after a video emerged of the group fighting and throwing chairs outside a Gloria Jeans cafe at Broadmeadows Central yesterday.

Hume Crime Investigation Unit detectives believe the group were involved in a "physical altercation" after a drink was thrown just after 4pm.

The brawl follows a string of violent incidents across Melbourne shopping centres, including the alleged stabbing of a security guard at a Kmart store last month and the alleged attack on a disabled man at Cranbourne Park Shopping Centre.

Paramedics treated a man in his late teens and a man in his 20s with minor injuries. They were both taken to Sunshine Hospital in a stable condition.

No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.
