Man and six children injured in boat explosion in regional Victoria

A man and six children have suffered burns in a boat explosion in northern Victoria.

The children, aged between four and 13, and the man were hurt when the boat exploded on Lake Nagambie, about 1.15pm, police said.

The man, in his 40s, suffered the most serious burns and was taken to the Alfred Hospital, an Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said.

The children suffered superficial burns and were also taken to hospital.

Police say it's believed the victims are from Melbourne.

The cause of the explosion is being investigated.
