Serena and Venus Williams to open resource centre for victims of gun violence

Star tennis sisters Serena and Venus Williams are planning to open a centre for people affected by gun violence.
The Yetunde Price Resource Centre is named after the pair’s sister, Yetunde Price, who was killed in a drive-by shooting in 2003.
The centre will be unveiled in their hometown of Compton, California, and will offer assistance to other families affected by similar tragedies.
Compton Mayor Aja Brown said the support will be paramount to helping families heal.
"This is an incredible investment and commitment by Serena and Venus Williams, and I commend them for their desire to help children and families in Compton thrive,” Ms Brown said in a statement.
“The resource center will be able to map all of the resources in and around the Compton community while providing customized assistance that will be a vital asset to improving our ability to service our youth, adults and families.”
Two tennis courts will also be refurbished and dedicated to the Williams sisters at the Healthy Compton Community Festival on Saturday, according to the Compton Herald.
