Second woman charged over NSW salon death

A graduate nurse has become the second woman behind bars after the death of a Sydney beauty clinic owner.

A court was told CCTV images show Yueqiong Fu, 29, administering anaesthetic during the botched procedure.

She is the second Chinese woman, along with 33-year-old Jie Shao, to face manslaughter charges over the death of Jean Huang following the procedure on August 30 at the Medi Beauty Laser and Contour Clinic in inner Sydney.

Ms Huang, 35, suffered cardiac arrest during the procedure and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition but died two days later.

Magistrate Susan Horan, who concluded Fu had a strong incentive to flee the country, said police had CCTV footage showing Fu wearing a surgical mask and gloves, inserting a cannula into Ms Huang and administering anaesthetic, as well as going in and out of the treatment room.

Fu had just graduated with a nursing degree from UTS, while she previously qualified as a nurse in China and worked in a hospital clinic there for three-and-a-half years.

Both women have been refused bail.

They will be back in Central Local Court on October 31.
