Warm welcome for missing kids as dad lands himself in hot water over alleged boat theft at Batemans Bay

After a cold night at sea, two brothers and their mates received a warm welcome back on dry land – the pair’s father, however, has found himself in hot water, accused of taking the children out on a stolen yacht at Batemans Bay.

Eight-year-old Jessie, his 12-year-old brother Nicholas, and two friends spent the night on the yacht, drifting.

Police allege 42-year-old Mark Jessop stole the boat from Batemans Bay Marina to take the children fishing, following an argument with his partner.

When the vessel failed to surface last night a large-scale search commenced.

As friends and family waited anxiously by the shore today, a rescue helicopter spotted the boat.

The children were reunited with their parents today, while Mr Jessop has been charged with unlawful use of a vessel.
