Intriguing new lead ahead of fresh dig for missing Beaumont children

There's a fresh layer of intrigue around this weekend's dig for the missing Beaumont children, after the MP leading the search claimed he has "startling new information" about the cold case.

Frank Pangallo, an Independent, is yet to divulge what the information is, but says it justifies the decision to excavate ground at the former Castalloy factory site in the suburb of North Plympton for a third time. 

"It's startling new information that we have received and particularly from the source," he said.

"When I spoke to this person, it blew me away. I've never heard this information before."

The children – nine-year-old Jane, seven-year-old Arnna and four-year-old Grant – vanished from Glenelg Beach in 1966. 

An owner of the former Castalloy Factory site, Harry Phipps, is considered a suspect, however he is now deceased. 

The upcoming excavation follows two previous searches conducted by SA Police, which yielded no conclusive evidence. 

Despite scepticism expressed by police, Pangallo maintains the importance of eliminating the possibility that the Beaumont children were buried at the site.
