Scotty's plan to woo Dezza, Davo and Bob

They're far from your average Tom, Dick and Harry - but now parliament has its own Derryn, David and Bob.

And it's up to a Scotty to sweet talk them.

It may just be the true-blue, dinky-di Aussie way of political negotiating - with Treasurer Scott Morrison at the helm.

The minister from the Shire has the task of trying to woo the likes of Dezza, Davo and Bob to pass his budget measures.

He's been busy meeting with the Senate's mixed bag of new and old faces, from the likes of Pauline Hanson to broadcaster Derryn Hinch, libertarian David Leyonhjelm and Family First's Bob Day, in trying to make the case for government policies.

On Monday he took to the airwaves to discuss how well that's been going for him in the bid to gain support for $40 billion in savings measures.

The treasurer explained his "very good" meetings with the Nick Xenophon team and how he was soon to catch up with Pauline and others.

"I look forward to doing those very same briefings to Derryn, David and Bob," he told 2GB radio's Ray Hadley.

That provoked a raucous laugh from Hadley.

"It's like an FM radio show! Bobbie and Nicky and Derry and Scotty and all, 'yo bro'!"

Mr Morrison laughed.

"That's it - one big happy family."

Maybe they'll all walk into a bar one day for those talks.
