Youth in court on explosives charges

An Adelaide teenager who has pleaded guilty to some charges, after allegedly carrying a pipe bomb onto a public bus, may be tried as an adult.

The 16-year-old boy appeared by video link in the Youth Court on Monday where a prosecutor said police had asked for advice on the issue from the director of public prosecutions.

The court was told the boy's pleas to three charges, including taking steps to manufacture an explosive device, were not considered sufficient to satisfy all the allegations against him.

He faces a total of nine charges, including one of endangering life.

The case will return to court in July.
