Uber Eats kicks Adelaide restaurant off the app after public protest
Uber Eats has kicked an Adelaide restaurant off its app effective immediately after the burger shop staged a public protest of the platform.
Stax Burger Co built up 6000 reviews on Uber Eats over the past four years, but a month ago owner Zaynn Bird chose to take on the global food delivery giant in protest of the company taking 30 per cent from each sale.

Customers had also complained of poor service with late deliveries and cold food.
“I don’t want small businesses to be bullied, really,” he said.
Bird increased the price of every item on the Stax Uber Eats menu to $500 in a bid to get people off the app and back in store.
“I’m sick of the big platforms ruining our food, ruining our service and ruining our reputation, it’s shit,” he told his followers.
Uber has officially terminated his restaurants in Prospect and Golden Grove from the platform since his fight went viral on social media.
“We’ve said f--- Uber, we’ve made all of our products on Uber $500,” he told his followers.
Bird is now engaging his lawyers to understand his options, maintaining he didn’t break his service agreement with the food delivery platform.
He said he was still open to working with Uber or any delivery company to improve service down the track.
“We just want one driver to take one order,” he said.
Uber told 9News it tried to remedy the concerns but Stax continued to use its platform in ways that do not support a genuine customer ordering experience.
