Severe bushfire warning across SA

A severe bushfire warning has been declared in 10 South Australian districts with hot conditions set to persist across the state.

The temperature will push into the low 40s in some regional centres on Tuesday though the maximum for Adelaide is tipped to be a more comfortable 35C.

The Country Fire Service says the forecast will lead to severe conditions in the northwest pastoral, eastern Eyre Peninsula, Flinders, mid-north, Mount Lofty Ranges, Yorke Peninsula, Riverland, Murraylands, upper southeast and the lower southeast districts.

That means a 24-hour total fire ban will be in place.

On Monday temperatures also climbed above 40C in some parts with Marree the hottest with 44C followed by Woomera on 43.9C and Oodnadatta on 43.6C.

Adelaide had a high of 39.5C but can expect conditions to moderate by Wednesday with a more tolerable 28C tipped.
