Man killed in crash near Adelaide as state's road toll continue to rise

A man has been killed after his car rolled and hit a tree near Adelaide.

The 25-year-old man died after the accident on Mount Barker Road, Hahndorf near Leonard Road last night at 10.20pm.

South Australia Police said the man was from Blair Athol in Adelaide.

Two passengers also from Adelaide, 20-year-old woman from the Elizabeth South and a 19-year-old Blakeview woman, were both injured and taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Their injuries are not considered life-threatening, police said.

Mount Barker Road has since reopened.

The man's death is the 110th life lost on South Australian roads so far this year, compared to 66 at the same time last year.

Earlier this week it was announced South Australia will spend $168 million on improving road safety after recording a horror road toll this year.

The funds will go towards improving urban and regional roads, footpaths and cycleways.
