South Australian authorities warn Gawler residents of sink hole on street
Residents in the country town of Gawler in South Australia have been warned to avoid a sink hole by authorities.
The sink hole was on the north-bound side of Murray Street near the entrance of a Coles.
South Australia Police informed residents of the sink hole on social media.

Traffic was diverted while the council fixed the hole.
Sink holes are created when surface land collapses or sinks into road cavities.
Heavy rain fall after a drought can also form substantial pressure on the ground to form sink holes.

Sink holes are sometimes confused with potholes.
The main difference is that a pothole is a small element caused from generally not paving materials properly.
