SA woman dies after car crash into tree

A woman has died near Port Lincoln in South Australia after crashing her car into a tree and unleashing a swarm of bees, which complicated rescue efforts.

Police say the 53-year-old woman's car collided with the tree in North Shields early on Wednesday and she died at the scene.

The Advertiser reports the tree fell on the woman's car, trapping her and unleashing the bees.

Major crash investigators are on their way to the scene.

The state's road toll now stands at 74, compared with 80 at the same time last year.
