SA truck driver charged over fatal crash

A truck driver has been charged over the deaths of two people in a head-on collision on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula.

Major crash investigators are expected to allege the 51-year-old from Whyalla drove onto the wrong side of the road.

They are also exploring the possibility of driver fatigue as a significant factor in the crash.

The collision happened on the Lincoln Highway, just north of Cowell on Saturday, with two people in the car killed at the scene.

Police say the truck driver has co-operated with their investigation and been charged with aggravated driving without due care.

He is expected to appear in Whyalla Magistrates Court in March.
