Teachers and preschool workers in South Australia will get a 2.5 per cent yearly pay rise if they accept an new enterprise agreement from the state government.

Education Minister Susan Close says the new three-year deal, which will be backdated to October 2015, is affordable and fair, and includes improved employment conditions and better workload management.

"The offer also recognises the essential role that our 24,000 teachers, principals, preschool directors and ancillary staff play in delivering high quality education to more than 160,000 children and preschoolers," Ms Close said.
