SA royal commission granted extension

A royal commission investigating the crimes of South Australian pedophile childcare worker Shannon McCoole has been granted more time.

Commissioner Margaret Nyland was initially due to report on the adequacy of child protection laws and the operations of Families SA by November 2015 but the deadline was pushed back to May 31.

The government announced on Thursday that Ms Nyland has been granted a further extension and must report her findings by August 5.
