SA police warn of new mail scam

South Australians are being scammed by fake police letters.

A letter purporting to be from Police Commissioner Grant Stevens is being sent to people promising the recipient a large sum of money in exchange for sending an approval fee.

Police warn that although the letters have a SA Police letterhead, they do not send letters demanding approval fees.

They say people should be suspicious because the letters are of poor quality and have spelling mistakes.
