SA moves to protect against oyster disease

An outbreak of an oyster-killing disease in Tasmania has prompted authorities in South Australia to ban oysters and equipment from being transferred between the state's farms.

Two cases of Pacific Oyster Mortality Syndrome (POMS), which is not harmful to humans, have been detected over the past week in Tasmania.

Primary Industries and Regions SA says food retailers will not face an oyster shortage.
