An Adelaide man has been jailed for at least four months for online offences involving 13 girls and for possessing child pornography.

David Luke Schmidt, 28, pleaded guilty to 13 counts of making a child amenable to sexual activity, two of making a false pretence as to his identification or qualification and an aggravated count of possessing child pornography.

In the District Court on Thursday, Judge Simon Stretton jailed him for two years and two months, saying while the offending was too serious to suspend the term he would set an "unusually short" non-parole period.

He noted Schmidt was a "traumatised, disadvantaged individual", who regretted his actions, and spoke of the importance of his rehabilitation.

Schmidt had assumed two false identities for 13 girls, aged between 12 and 14, and asked them about virginity and talked about sex.

He also sent explicit photos of himself and asked for photos of the girls in various states of undress.

He also had 25 child pornography videos.
