SA fisherman nets two-mouthed bream

A South Australian fisherman's jaw dropped yesterday when he netted a bream with two mouths.

Garry Warrick of Barmera in SA's southeast, said he believed the deformed creature was caught in his net in Lake Bonney at Riverland or a creek that adjoins it.

"Both mouths are actually joined together," the commercial fisherman said.

"The top one opens and closes but the bottom one looks permanently open."

Mr Warrick has worked in the area for 30 years and said he had caught deformed carp and bream in the past.

The veteran angler said he once caught a fish with a dolphin-shaped head but had never come across a two-mouthed bream.

"I normally pack them for cray bait and fertiliser but this one I put in the freezer," Mr Warrick said.

"I hadn't really told anyone about it other than my wife, and she said you might as well put the photos online."
