SA bashing murder accused faces court

The lawyer of a woman accused of bashing her mother to death in Adelaide's north says police are continuing to investigate the alleged murder.

Raylene Jean Smith, 40, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday via videolink from custody.

She has been charged with murdering her mother, whose body was found on the front lawn of a Woodville Gardens home in the early hours of May 28.

Smith's lawyer Mike Norman told the court police were pursuing "further lines of inquiry" in relation to the death.

He requested further time to examine a crime scene report and macroscopic brain scans.

Smith will face court again on January 29, when she is expected to answer the charge.
