Police push for reward in search for missing boy Gus Lamont

Police are going to new lengths to find missing South Australian boy Gus Lamont as the one-year anniversary of his disappearance approaches.

9News understands police have been pushing for a reward to be offered to anyone who provides information which leads to a conviction in the case.

The proposal has been sitting with state parliament for approval and there is now hope it could be revealed as early as Wednesday.

9News also understands police are preparing a major announcement this week, where for the first time the public could hear directly from Gus’ parents Jess and Josh on camera.

They are expected to make an emotional public plea to anyone with information about what happened to their son as they approach the difficult milestone.

This weekend will mark one year since Gus vanished without a trace.

He was last seen playing in the sand at his remote family homestead in the state’s mid-north about 5pm on September 27.

Since that day, the state has seen its largest ever search for a missing person, however police have not been able to solve the mystery of his disappearance.
