Police arrest 24 people in drug raids

Police have arrested 24 people allegedly involved in a major cannabis distribution ring across three states.

South Australian police raided 50 properties across the state on Tuesday, arresting 20 people.

Three people in Western Australia and one person in the Northern Territory were also arrested.

Drugs worth more than $660,000, including 52 kilograms of cannabis, 312 cannabis plants and a small amount of amphetamines, were seized, along with a number of firearms.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Taylor says SAPOL is working closely with the Australian Federal Police in regard to further charges.

"We are satisfied we have had a major impact on this criminal syndicate responsible for cultivating and trafficking cannabis in South Australia and across Australia," he said on Wednesday.

The raids take the number of arrests under Operation Deluge, launched by SAPOL in January, to 33.
