PM spruiking small business package

He likes a good coffee, but Prime Minister Tony Abbott left the brewing to a local Liberal MP as he continued to spruik the federal government's small business package in last week's budget.

On Thursday, Mr Abbott visited an Adelaide coffee shop that, he said, was typical of a small business looking to invest and grow its operations by taking advantage of the budget's tax concessions.

"This is one of the 135,000 small businesses in South Australia that will be eligible for the instant asset write-off," Mr Abbott said.

"If every one of those businesses invests $20,000 in improving their business, that would be a $2.5 billion shot in the arm for the South Australian economy."

The prime minister's coffee was brewed by MP Matt Williams, who chanced his arm with the cappuccino machine and won the approval of his boss.

"Good on ya Matt, you get the job," Mr Abbott said.
