Hundreds of guernseys, jackets, beanies and scarves left as tributes for Phil Walsh donated to Adelaide’s homeless

Family and friends of late Adelaide Football Club coach Phil Walsh have requested the hundreds of guernseys, jackets, beanies, scarves, shirts and footballs left as tributes be given to the homeless.

More than 20 boxes of Crows gear, left at the club as a sign of respect after Walsh’s death, have now been given to organisations that assist the needy, the Adelaide Advertiser reports.

Walsh was allegedly stabbed to death on July 3. His son, Cy, has been charged with his murder.

The Hutt St Centre, Streetlink Youth Health, The Smith Family and Taoundi Aboriginal College, in the APY Lands will reportedly distribute the items.

“Football is a great release for the homeless, it takes their minds of the problems,” Hutt St Centre client James Sheehan told the newspaper.

“Walshy meant a lot to me, he meant a lot to the football community.

“I’m happy to wear this Crows jumper because of what it means. This Guernsey means something special because somebody gave it out of the goodness of their heart and it keeps Phil’s memory alive.”
