The pair was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious injuries.

The man driving the Toyota Yaris involved is assisting police with the enquiries.

Authorities are hoping CCTV footage from surrounding businesses may help crash investigators understand how the pair was hit only metres from the pedestrian crossing.

The incident caused serious traffic delays for around seven hours, however all roads have since reopened.

Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
