Oval drink prices dropped for third Test

Adelaide Oval's Stadium Management Authority has cut the cost of drinks at the third cricket Test between South Africa and Australia after being asked to explain the high prices.

The authority says after negotiations with key suppliers the cost of a beer will be cut from $9.20 to $8.90 and the cost of a bottle of water from $5 to $4.80 at the Test starting on Thursday.

"We all want the same thing. We want the Adelaide Oval experience to be as outstanding and accessible as possible while balancing that with our need to run and maintain the Adelaide Oval to the international standard expected by all South Australians," authority chief executive Andrew Daniels said.

Earlier this week Premier Jay Weatherill described the drink prices as "a bit rich" and called on the oval's managers to justify recent increases.
