The Nick Xenophon Team wants Sunday penalty rates slashed but says it will not challenge the Fair Work Commission's upcoming ruling.

NXT campaign manager and Senate candidate Stirling Griff wants to see the rates cut from 175 to 150 per cent so more small businesses can afford to trade seven days.

"Our position is rock solid and that is we will accept the Fair Work Commission's view," Mr Griff told ABC radio on Tuesday.
