Nuclear dump worthy topic: Bishop

South Australia's proposed high-level nuclear waste dump is worth considering if it will create jobs, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop says.

Ms Bishop said Australia had been involved in the nuclear fuel cycle for more than 60 years but community support was vital when it came to waste storage.

"Any proposal that would drive jobs growth in this state is worthy of discussion," she told reporters in Adelaide on Tuesday.
