New pathway for would-be conductors in SA

Those aspiring to lead an orchestra will soon be able to sign up for a unique training course in Adelaide.

The University of Adelaide's Elder Conservatorium of Music and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra will offer a joint training course to give students a real-world pathway to professional conducting.

"We believe that through the joint delivery of this postgraduate conducting program we are not only investing in young people, but also playing a part in creating the future generation of conductors in Australia," Adelaide Symphony Orchestra managing director Vincent Ciccarello said.
