The Murray River is back is fine form after receiving the most rain it has in two decades, the South Australian government says.

As recently as April, the river was recording some of its lowest falls on record, but wetter conditions since May have turned things around dramatically.

Water Minister Ian Hunter said South Australians entitled to use the river's water could now access 100 per cent of their share, which is up from a 36 per cent allocation for some in June.
