A man charged with the murder of an Adelaide woman and her two children has been told he will be asked to answer the allegations at his next court appearance later this month.

Steven Graham Peet, 31, is accused of murdering his partner Adeline Yvette Rigney-Wilson, 29, and her children, aged five and six.

He came before the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday where defence counsel Stephen Ey asked for a short adjournment after telling the court he had only just been brought into the case.

Prosecutor Emily Telfer did not object to the delay but asked for the matter to "move along" on the next occasion.

Magistrate Bob Harrap said he would allow one final adjournment but told Peet, who appeared by video link, that he should expect to enter a plea when the matter returned to court on March 29.

"Mostly likely, on the next occasion, I'll be reading the charges," Mr Harrap said.

The bodies of Ms Rigney-Wilson and her children were all found at a house at Hillier, north of Adelaide, in May last year.

Details of how they were killed have not yet been revealed.

After the deaths Families SA confirmed they had been in "active contact" with Ms Rigney-Wilson and her children.
