SA murder victim stabbed up to 70 times

Two men and a woman brutally murdered an Adelaide man by stabbing and bashing him up to 70 times, a court has heard.

The trio, who cannot be named, faced Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday charged with the murder of Steven Hinrichsen, whose body was found at his Morphett Vale home on Saturday morning.

A police prosecutor told the court Mr Hinrichsen had been the victim of a "violent and brutal attack" and was found with "up to 70 stab, slash, blunt force trauma injuries".

He asked the court for an 11-month adjournment to allow time for a detailed post-mortem report and analysis of text messages and call transcripts.

But counsel for the accused opposed the application, and a period of six months was set by the magistrate.

The trio made no application for bail and were remanded in custody to reappear before the court in June.
