Man pleads not guilty to partner's murder

A man has pleaded not guilty to murdering his 27-year-old partner, who was found dead in a car outside her home in Adelaide's south.

But 35-year-old Toby Awatere, from Hackham West, indicated he was willing to plead guilty to manslaughter when he appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday.

Awatere was committed to stand trial for murdering Jackie Ohide, the mother of two young children, who police say were at home at the time she died.

Ohide's body was found in the passenger seat of a car parked in the driveway of the Hackham West home.

Police allege the death was related to a domestic matter.

Awatere, who appeared via videolink from prison, will face the South Australian Supreme Court on October 19.
