SA man pleads guilty to wheelie bin murder

A man has pleaded guilty to murdering another man whose body was found stuffed in a wheelie bin in Adelaide.

In the South Australian Supreme Court on Monday, 48-year-old Andrew Damien Hallcroft admitted to murdering Allan Lee Ryan on New Year's Day this year.

An elderly resident discovered the body of Mr Ryan, 32, in a wheelie bin at Aldinga Beach on January 3.

After Hallcroft's arrest in January, police said the men knew each other and had been drinking together in the early hours of January 1 when the murder occurred.

Hallcroft, from Aldinga, will return to the Supreme Court for submissions on October 29.
