Tragedy as police find body of missing man who fell into remote South Australian waters

The discovery of a missing man's body has brought a tragic close to a search of remote waters off the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia.

Police launched a full-scale search after the 56-year-old man was reported to have fallen into the sea from the jetty at Coffin Bay, about 700 kilometres south-west of Adelaide, about 1am.

Divers searched the water in and around the area this morning, joined by crews on the water and police in the air.

The body of the missing Western Australian man was found on the beach at Kellidie Bay, near the area he went missing, about 12.30pm.

Police are still trying to figure out how the man came to fall into the sea.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
