Police make arrest in hunt for North Adelaide rapist

The so-called North Adelaide rapist has been arrested after detectives matched DNA from the crime scenes with that of the accused man's close relative.

The 56-year-old man is due to appear in court on Friday charged with rape and assault with intent to rape in relation to attacks on two women who were walking in North Adelaide on September 6 and November 23, 2012.

Police say while there was no direct match from the crime scene DNA to profiles on the National DNA database, there was a "familial" match with a close relative of the accused whose profile was on the database.
