Man arrested over SA bushfires

A man who allegedly sparked two bushfires on Adelaide's northern fringes has been arrested.

A 21-year-old man from Blakeview was charged on Sunday with recklessly causing a bushfire after police allege he started two bushfires overnight at Salisbury.

One small fire was discovered by police off the the Salisbury Highway near the Happy Home Reserve just before 4.30am on Sunday.

A police search of the area found a man nearby, allegedly lighting and feeding another bushfire, SA police said in a statement.

The police patrol extinguished the second smaller fire. But fire crews were called in to help douse the first bushfire which burnt vegetation close to the railway line, police said.

The arrested man remains in custody and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.
