Body found in search for missing SA man

The body of a 22-year-old man has been found off Adelaide's coast after he went on a trip to the beach with a young disabled boy he cared for.

Nischal Ghimire was last seen about 4pm on Thursday after collecting the 10-year-old from his home and taking him to Glenelg.

The 10-year-old boy was found distressed but unhurt soon after the pair were reported missing early on Friday morning.

At about 7.30pm police found Mr Ghimire's body at the West Beach boat ramp.

A report will now be prepared for the coroner.

From the child's appearance, police believe the pair had been swimming but Inspector Sandy Morey said because of the boy's disability officers had been unable to speak with him.

Authorities spent Friday doing air, sea and land searches for Mr Ghimire.

Police dogs were brought in to check the dunes while divers used sonar to search the water.

Insp Morey said earlier on Friday despite the man's disappearance there was no evidence of foul play.

"There's no indication of anything of that nature. The boy has a disability but there's no indication of any harm to him at all," he said.

"The young man is employed to care for the boy, so there's nothing untoward about them being together."

Relatives and friends of Mr Ghimire gathered at Glenelg from early on Friday, saying that while he loved the beach, he was not a swimmer.
