Five stand for SA Senate vacancy

Former election candidates Ruth Beach and Matthew Carey are among five candidates who have nominated to fill a Senate vacancy in South Australia for the Greens.

Adelaide City Councillor Robert Simms has also put his name forward along with Rebecca Galdies and Samuel Taylor.

The South Australian vacancy was prompted by the recent decision of sitting Senator Penny Wright to quit parliament because of a family illness.

The winning candidate will be decided after a ballot of all party members in SA.
