Fake $50 notes passed in SA

Counterfeit $50 notes found in regional South Australia in recent days appear legitimate at first glance, police say.

The notes were passed at local businesses in Coober Pedy and Port Augusta this week and were printed on plastic with different serial numbers.

But they lack the Australian coat of arms hologram next to the clear plastic window, have brighter colours and feel heavier than legitimate notes.
