Elderly woman dies in Adelaide unit fire

An elderly woman has died after fire tore through her unit in Adelaide overnight.

Emergency services arrived on the scene in Somerton Park around 9pm after receiving multiple calls to Triple Zero.

The 84-year-old woman was trapped as the blaze burned through her unit with neighbours helpless to assist as the flames spewed out of the unit’s front door.

Firefighters pulled the woman from the home, however she was unable to be revived.

Crews prevented the fire from spreading to any other homes and extinguished the blaze within 15 minutes.

The cause of the fire remains unknown however authorities do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances.
