Drivers caught on the phone across SA

More than 1500 South Australian drivers - or more than 50 a day - were caught using mobile phones during a traffic operation in June.

Police say the number detected and fined was more than double the number caught during non-operational periods.

"It appears drivers do not believe, or care, that using a mobile phone dramatically increases their chances of being in a crash," Superintendent Bob Fauser said on Monday.
