Deli robber arrested in SA

A man has been arrested in South Australia following a robbery and police chase in the state's southeast.

Just after 10.30pm on Saturday, police say two men wearing balaclavas and armed with a tyre lever threatened a woman at a Lameroo deli, stealing the shop's till containing cash.

They drove away in a dark-coloured Commodore, which was later allegedly involved in a petrol theft at nearby Tailem Bend.

Just before 1am, a police patrol spotted the suspect car in Murray Bridge and pursued it for a short distance before stopping for safety reasons.

A short time later, a man matching the description of one of the robbery suspects was arrested nearby.

The 25-year-old Lameroo man has been refused bail and will appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on Monday charged with aggravated robbery.

Police continue to search for the second man.
