Power veteran Kane Cornes extends career with Port after signing one-year deal

Port Adelaide veteran Kane Cornes will play a 15th season in the AFL, after signing a one-year contract extension at the club.

The 31 year-old is the Power's games record holder, having suited up on 285 occasions and his new deal puts him on track to become the club's first 300-gamer.

"I feel really good, I've been really lucky with my body and I haven't really missed a training session all year," he said.

"I've played every game (in 2014) so I'm confident I've got at least another 12 months in me."

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley arrived at the club ahead of the 2012 season, and immediately challenged Cornes to work with him to extend his career.

"Kane is a true professional and continues to be an outstanding player for this football club," he said.

"His preparation is second to none and he sets the standards for our younger players to aspire to."

Cornes is the only member of the Power's 2004 premiership side still playing at Alberton, after former captain Dom Cassisi retired following last Sunday's victory over Melbourne.
