The South Australian branch of the RSL is grappling with a cash flow problems as it also searches for a new chief executive.

State president Tim Hanna says the organisation is under financial pressure with revenues down about $300,000 last year.

"That obviously puts pressure on the organisation," Mr Hanna told ABC radio on Wednesday.

Former chief executive Julia Langrehr resigned in January, citing financial management as an issue in an interview with online news outlet InDaily.

"I struggled to have an impact to make the changes I felt were necessary and the board were not aligned with the changes I felt were necessary," she said.

Mr Hanna said the RSL was confident it could turn its situation around with cost cutting and some possible asset sales.

He said an auditor would also review the organisation's business operations.
