Buglers to sound Last Post in Adelaide

Buglers will take to the streets in Adelaide in a bid by the RSL to recreate the mood of Remembrance Day from the 1950s.

The buglers will sound the Last Post at 11am on Wednesday in three city locations, including Victoria Square.

The RSL's South Australian chief executive Julia Langrehr says the idea is to recreate the respect for the fallen that prevailed more than half a century ago.

"Back in those days people would stop in the street and even climb out of their cars and observe a minute's silence," Ms Langrehr said.

She said it's hoped that people will take similar action on Wednesday as they mark the moment in 1918 when the guns fell silent on the Western Front, effectively ending World War I.

"It's all about remembering self-sacrifice in the defence of our nation."
