Major crime detectives have identified a body found in an Adelaide river.

A member of the public on Minnipa Road saw the body floating in shallow water near rocks in Port River, in Port Adelaide, about 3pm yesterday.

There were initial reports the body could have been that of missing father Michael Modesti, who disappeared on Mother’s Day on May 8.

His car was found dumped in Adelaide on May 11.

Soon after, police said they believed the 33-year-old had been murdered and his death could be drug-related.

“We now think the possibility of Michael being alive is non-existent,” Detective Superintendent Des Bray told reporters on May 23.

“We believe that he was murdered.”

The body found in the river has been identified as that of 32-year-old man, and the death is not suspicious, police said.
