Adelaide woman admits wine committee theft

A South Australian woman has admitted to stealing more than $30,000 from a not-for-profit wine organisation.

Sharon Tracey Nitschke appeared in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday and pleaded guilty to stealing from the Riverland Vine Improvement Committee between 2014 and 2017.

The exact amount of money was not specified in court, and charges relating to a second offence were withdrawn.

Police have previously alleged Nitschke, of regional Barmera, was employed by the committee at the time of the theft.

The Riverland Vine Improvement Committee aims to promote regional grape varieties and supply material to meet the requirements of the industry.

It is based at the Riverland town of Monash, about 50 kilometres west of South Australia's border with Victoria.

Nitschke will reappear in court for a sentencing hearing in October.
