Adelaide train drivers end dispute

Adelaide's train drivers have reached a deal with the state government ending a protracted industrial dispute over a new enterprise agreement.

The drivers have lifted work bans that cancelled free footy express services to last weekend's AFL match at Adelaide Oval.

Similar action was planned for this weekend but Transport Minister Stephen Mullighan says there will be no further disruptions following a positive outcome to negotiations between the state government and the Rail, Tram and Bus Union.

As part of a new enterprise agreement the state government had insisted a no forced redundancies clause would be scrapped.

In return drivers wanted assurances on what packages would be offered to any workers who were made redundant.

The issue had been sticking point in negotiations which had gone on for more than a year.
